Planet Silver Screen

PROSTHETIC Nevada desert-based rockers weave their own sonic path This record opens with jazzy sax, but persevere! Beyond lies a blend of styles that transcends classification. This trio released their debut LP in 2015 – a genre-bending prog metal epic with rich post-punk undertones. Here, they reaffirm their commitment to this eraspanning amalgam. Weaving 80s post-punk vocals into wall-shaking riffs and shapeshifting tempos, the tracks suggest Mastodon drunk on wine and The Cure. Of course, without sharp songwriting the concept would die on the vine, but catchy hooks and hummable choruses abound. Inventive and subtly affecting, this is weird in all the right ways.
