CHROME DIVISION One Last Ride
NUCLEAR BLAST
Shagrath’s biker rockers get home a little too safe
Formed in 2004 by Dimmu Borgir frontman Shagrath, who plays rhythm guitar here, Chrome Division play the kind of music that’s great in the background – in a loud biker bar where no one’s actually listening to it – but on closer inspection is kinda cheesy. Sure, The Call and the title track have solid enough riffs and are well constructed, but in attempting to capture the sound of the open road they have inadvertently written car commercials, with airbags where there should be apehangers. As the title suggests, this will be the band’s final album, but like the old biker adage goes, chrome won’t get you home.
