DOMKRAFT Flood
BLUES FUNERAL
Cosmic stoner-sludge that will blow your tiny mind
Fulfilling the potential shown on mesmerising debut album The End Of Electricity two years ago, this Stockholm trio have ventured even further into the disorientating doom metal cosmos on the follow-up. Flood is aptly named; cranked up to a suitable volume, it’s a sustained torrent of viscous, bubbling sludge that achieves acute psychedelia through distortion and repetition, rather than kitschy retro embellishments. Opener Landslide is a swirling vortex of hulking riffs and anguished bellowing, each lumbering groove shrouded in the sparkle and hiss of Hawkwind’s dirty space rock template. The Watchers is a more overtly
Sabbathian freakout, albeit alarmingly bleak and trippy as hell. The rest are equally immersive and destined to enthral anyone with a taste for altered states and massive, arse-shattering riffs. For extra hallucinatory thrills, make sure you get the eye-mincing green ’n’ pink splatter vinyl.
