WARKINGS Reborn
NAPALM
Odin’s battle-ready warriors steer close to the wind
Conjuring images of steelclad warriors bursting forth from the halls of Valhalla atop of their noble steeds, you can almost hear the bellows of “Sparta, what is your profession?!” rattling across the blood-soaked battlefield. The soundtrack to accompany such overtly ludicrous scenes would be the debut album from Norway power metallers Warkings. Declaring themselves “Odin’s heroes of war”, the quartet steer a dizzying course through the choppy seas of melodic power/battle metal. From the over-the-top stadium anthemia of Never Surrender and The Last Battle to Gladiator’s unashamed warmongering, the songs are awash with extravagant solos, and packed full of massive choruses that you’ll either scream along with, or scream at as a result of their cheese-on-toast overtures. Reborn delivers a sound that will undoubtedly inspire equal parts devotion and derision.
