How was 2018 for Municipal waste, Tony? Tony foresta (vocals):
“It was great, touring our butts off and completing a new EP. It’s four brand-new songs we wrote and recorded instead of using old junk songs or stuff that was left over from the last record. The tracks are really good, too… we should probably save some for the next album!”
we see more and more people in that infamous Trump t-shirt these days...
“We thought it was funny because we hated that guy. We really didn’t think he’d be president so we jumped the gun before we knew what was really going to happen. I’d rather take back the shirt sales and not have him as president!”
what’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen in a Municipal waste crowd?
“I’ve seen a girl lift up her dress and start peeing everywhere. I’ve seen people lighting themselves on fire… I saw someone sneak in one of those airplane safety jackets you wear around your neck. He jumped up on stage, pulled the cord so it filled up with air and then stagedived.”
what can we find you up to on days off on the road?
“At this point, we know people in almost every city so we hit up our friends to take us to bars. one of our best days off we’ve ever had was with Exodus and Anthrax and we got a hotel room on the beach so we just sat there all day long drinking on a beachside patio at this beach bar. By the time we left about 12 hours later, the waitress who’d never even heard of our band was hugging us and crying that she was going to miss us. It was a hell of a day!”
what’s your tourbus like on the inside?
“on Warped Tour, there’s 100 buses parked everywhere and everybody that came onto our bus said, ‘Holy fuck, you guys are clean!’ We’ve been around each other so many years, if someone’s dropping their shit everywhere, we’re on them to pick it up. Throw your shit in your own bunk, keep the place as clean as your house – you don’t want ladies coming on the bus to find somebody’s dirty drawers laying around. I don’t like to load equipment, so while everyone’s loading, I vacuum instead. I’m the housewife, I hoover the shit out of the bus!”
