ALL HAIL THE YETI Highway Crosses
MINUS HEAD Genre-soldering riffmongers put pedal to the metal
Album number three from these Californian metal magpies is every bit as monstrous as their moniker suggests. Boasting stronger songwriting and some mainstream-bothering choruses, their fusion of stoner, classic rock and metalcore has never sounded as potent. Some of the credit for likes of the anthemic Slow Season is due to Down and Crowbar producer Warren Riker, and singer Connor Garritty puts in an impressive performance throughout, his clean vocals reminiscent of Pepper Keenan and M Shadows. Though it’s slightly front-loaded, Highway Crosses is full of just the right amount of neck-bothering thrills and experimentation to excite fans old and new.
