Do not adjust your sets: the Christian nu metal survivors are teaming up with Alien Ant farm for a UK tour

Did you make any New Year’s resolutions?

Sonny Sandoval (vocals): “Same as the last 25 years’! The older I get, I always just want to try and stay as healthy as I can so I can watch my kids have their own families and be happy.”

what do you guys have planned for 2019?

“We plan on touring this record wherever it will take us! We have Uk, Europe and Russia dates lined up for February to March, and then back to the States for more touring.”

A lot of people may be surprised to see you and Alien Ant farm sharing a bill in 2019. Are you embracing the nu metal nostalgia generation?

“We never have and I don’t know if we ever will. I don’t know who came up with that ‘nu metal’ title. I never considered us a metal band and I definitely know Alien Ant Farm don’t. I think that’s just the label that stuck around the longest.”

what was it about that early-00s era that enamoured people so much?

“I think it was more of a lifestyle. At least for P.o.d. it was, and still is. We were around before the labels and mainstream recognition and we continue to be who we are today. Back then music still had balls. now it’s back to entertaining the sheep.”

How well do you know the Alien Ant farm guys?

“We were never really that close until about a few years ago. Since our first run with them in the Uk a few years back we’ve toured a bunch in the States, and did a South American tour as well. We love those guys.”

You famously recorded a theme for wwE’s Rey Mysterio. How did that come about?

“We went to school with Rey! He was one of the homies. He did his thing in the wrestling world and we were jamming all over town. our paths would later cross again and he asked us to do his theme song. We’re big fans of him and WWE.”

what was it like seeing him walk out to it for the first time? “It was cool then and still is cool now. We’re so excited for him to be back at it and representing the 619.”
