LIFESICK
Swept In Black
ISOLATION Murky and menacing hardcore from the dark corners of Denmark
Swept In Black is only Lifesick’s second fulllength, but it reveals a striking maturity. On the whole, it picks up where their debut, 601, left off but is more cohesive and energetic, a touch less crusty and ominous. Formed in Denmark in 2015, they’ve retained all their intense, unnerving aggression, their tumultuous barrage of murky, brutal thrashfuelled hardcore growing increasingly impressive. Suicide Spell and Torment Of Life, which features guest vocals by Baptists’ Andrew Drury, are exemplary in their mean breakdowns, shifting tempos, wily groove and solid, catchy riffs. Alongside Simon Shoshan’s vicious vocals the album enjoys further guest appearances from Comeback Kid’s Andrew Neufeld and Jacob Bredahl (ex-Hatesphere). A confident step from a band nurturing their sound without losing their dark edge.
