It all runs seamlessly and with a sense of occasion. Doro treats this club as if she is playing an arena, at one point asking, “Are you ready upstairs?” as if the short riser at the back was a balcony. There’s no stage show as such, save for a cowled figure waving a staff as he stalks about during But who needs gimmicks when you have a crowd so involved?

The band are far from faceless, adding daubs of virtuosity and personalit­y to augment the leading lady. And the climactic is inspiratio­nal. You can’t help but leave with a huge smile after such a gig. However, Doro’s smile will be bigger than anyone’s. She lives for nights such as this, because nothing matters more to her than metal.
