THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES

While Corey’s mask may have grabbed the most headlines, Sid’s might just be the most fascinating transformation of them all. We asked where his creepy new look came from.

“Sometimes I go back to the gas mask, but there’s always at least something reminiscent of the old stuff,” Sid says of the new gear, which many have compared to a certain evil intergalactic emperor. “It’s super-fun when you get the final product, but leading up to that is the hard thing. the more involved ‘in’ it you are, the more likely you are to get the thing you want to wear. everyone is really particular about what they want to wear, but I’m super-involved. people’s work in my it.” mask has six the biggest challenge Sid faces, however, is translating the idea in his head to the people who make the mask. “I had a lot of hiccups in getting the final product,” he tells us. “In my head I knew it’d work, but I had to find the people who could make it work. trying to explain to people who do it for a living when I don’t make masks for a living is tough. It was only on our first album that we had to make all of our masks ourselves.”

and for those who aren’t quite sure about Sid’s mask so far, don’t worry – you haven’t even seen the finished product yet. “You haven’t even seen my full mask!” he chuckles. “I’ve not revealed it in its entirety. there are more layers to come, but you just have to show a bit of patience. You don’t get to dictate to me how I reveal everything. I’m in control of this, I decide what you get to see. there’s more coming, and I’m excited for people to see it.”
