BRAND OF SACRIFICE
Godhand UNIQUE LEADER
Short, blunt death/slam bullets with limited range
The debut album from these Toronto/Manhattan-based death/slamcore troopers is fairly smart for such a ludicrously brutal band. With 10 tracks clocking in at just over 20 minutes it’s a mercifully brief romp through the some of the most absurdly OTT deathcore tropes imaginable. Each song comes with extra helpings of pig squeals, triggered drums and a beatdown that slows everything to crawling pace. There’s even a 90-second instrumental, Hill Of Swords, that should soundtrack an 80s action movie montage. If you’re the world’s biggest fan of this style you might be gasping for more by the end. For the rest of us, this is about enough.
