MISÞYRMING

Icelandic black metallers add more malignancy to their melodicism
It’s taken four years for Icelandic primitivists Misþyrming to follow up 2015’s vaunted Söngvar Elds Og Óreiðu. What has eventually emerged is a masterclass in the combining of malignant atmosphere and straight-up rock’n’roll that makes for great black metal. Orgia is relentless battery, while
Með Svipur á Lofti throws in tempo and riff changes that feel organic but thrilling. Allt Sem Eitt Sinn Blómstraði attacks so quickly the riffs and snare fall over each other. The addition of synth and stronger songwriting makes for a focused record more melodic than their first, yet still uncompromisingly savage. This is, quite simply put, fucking raging.
