SCOTT STAPP
The Space Between The Shadows NAPALM
Former Creed man gets heavy to overcome his demons
Scott Stapp – the one-time Creed vocalist who records maudlin, self-immolating stuff, right? That might have been true about his two previous solo albums, but on The Space Between
The Shadows he’s become less introspective and more embracing. The style is much heavier, with guitars turned right up on tracks like World I Used To Know and Face Of The Sun. Additionally, Stapp has matured as a singer, to the point where he projects emotion in a way that’s sympathetic and inviting. He’s still writing lyrics about the darkness of life and his personal struggles, but now they’re less confessional and more about facing problems and overcoming them. This album translates inner demons into songs that can connect with everyone.
