Punk’s Breakthrough year, 1977, surely changed the face of the music scene, but for metalheads, 1979 proved even more pivotal, as it saw Motörhead unleashed on the general consciousness with both the Overkill and Bomber albums. BMG are celebrating their 40th anniversary with a box set that would make Snaggletooth purr. Housed in a black biker jacket box, you’ll find both albums mastered at half-speed onto 180g vinyl as well as two double live albums from Motörhead’s ’79 tours, another vinyl full of ’79 rarities and a gatefold seven-inch of No Class. There are other gifts galore: a retro-styled music mag full of unseen photos and interviews, a Bomber tour programme, Overkill sheet music book and a set of ’79 badges.
