Having dismissed two ghoulish young twins, a decrepit papa nihil is interrupted mid-sax as sister imperator informs him that a new leader is needed, with “Youth, and stamina, and sexual charisma” as the two revert briefly to their younger, attractive incarnations. a shadowy candidate in lurks in the wings…
CHAPTER II: THE CARDINAL
and lo, he is here. He shall attain the rank of Cardinal and his name shall be Copia. He shall bear the weight of a boombox upon his shoulder and incur the wrath of
nihil, for he is not of the bloodline. Verily, a blessing must be bestowed, and a new mission for papa’s progeny must be teased…
CHAPTER III: BACK ON THE ROAD
the progeny are ordered back on the road before being nobbled by a syringe-bearing Ghoul. Meanwhile, papa emeritus i is embalmed before
being loaded in a flight case onto a truck bearing the remains of his two successors. intrigue abounds!
CHAPTER IV: THE ACCIDENT
sister imperator gets into a lincoln Continental, which she promptly drives off a cliff. papa nihil visits what’s left of her in hospital, helps himself to her oxygen mask and
imagines her younger, feistier incarnation. imperator asks, and receives, an announcement of a european headline tour…
CHAPTER V: THE CALL
imperator and nihil get meta on the phone (dialling 666), discussing the four instalments so far of a horror movie. imperator’s younger, rather attractive, yet sadly imaginary incarnation tries to initiate some phone sex. another phone call from “the old one himself” leads to another tour announcement…
CHAPTER VI: THE VISIT
Cardinal Copia visits imperator and papa at the hospital. brief awkwardness ensues. something about the stillbandaged imperator is… not quite right. “Have you lost weight?” Copia asks before the bandages come off to reveal a completely transformed sister. More awkwardness ensues before they eventually return to the Ministry…
CHAPTER VII: NEW WORLD REDRO
Copia and nihil go all The Shining on bicycle and typewriter respectively. nihil enters a chapel to be confronted by the youngest incarnation of imperator, before coming face to face with a younger, well-coiffured incarnation of himself. the Cardinal breaks the spell by crashing his bike before confronting the twins, also in Shining, “red rum” chanting mode…
CHAPTER VIII: KISS THE GO-GOAT
as a grumpy nihil objects to the Cardinal’s growing status – “He was nominated for two Grammys, did not win one!” – we’re transported back to 1969, where nihil brings some swinging sounds to Hollywood. an onlooking imperator seems to be hiding something…
