CANNABIS CORPSE

Nug So Vile SEASON OF MIST

Weed-obsessed death metallers slip into high gear

Cannabis Corpse’s playful puns on marijuana and the most iconic tracks death metal has to offer may be tongue-in-cheek, but their music itself is of the utmost intensity. This sixth effort picks up where 2017’s Left Hand Pass left off and gives an aural battering across 11 tracks of ripping death metal. Conquerors Of Chronageddon opens the album in emphatic fashion as a musical maelstrom of savage riffs and vicious vocal snarls sets an immediate precedent while the slick grooves of The Ultimate Indicantation are utterly satisfying. With clever pacing that flows from a whirlwind to a midtempo romp, Nug So Vile

feels as organic as the blunts they’re smoking. They may have originally been established as a loving homage to death metal’s forefathers, but Cannabis Corpse are now really hitting their stride. ■■■■■■■■■■
