NECRONOMICON
Unus SEASON OF MIST
Occult-minded death metallers keep their forces in balance
That old adage ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ rings especially true for Necronomicon, as after 30 years of producing solid and occult-leaning symphonic death metal, the Canadians are back with their sixth full-length. Unus isn’t breaking down barriers but songs such as Infinitum Continuum and Paradise
Lost sound vital in their riffing and progression.
Rob Tremblay’s voice is a commanding presence throughout and, despite the recent line-up shifts, the band sound cohesive and deadly. Singularis Dominus
moves in synthesised waves towards its final destination while Ascending The Throne Of Baator’s deadly assault leads into the atmospheric outro of Fhtagn. ■■■■■■■■■■
