CYBERNETIC WITCH CULT
Absurdum Ad Nauseam SELF-RELEASED
Cornish stoner trio induce a dystopian future vision
Navigating through a labyrinth of dirty, 70sinfused riffs, this Cornish three-piece’s third outing is a head-spinning love letter to classic sci-fi. Though not as intense as Sleep’s classic, Duneinspired Dopesmoker, CWC do try to incorporate as many ideas and themes as possible from all across the genre’s spectrum. Concrete in its execution with some proper head-nodding moments like dystopian post-intro album opener Hypercomputer and Spice,
there are some decent payoffs on this album that certainly warrant an extra listen or two. At a respectable runtime of 53 minutes, it isn’t too taxing on your brain if you’re looking for a gateway into stoner. It’s perhaps not as sustaining for your hardcore fans out there, but for your average space cadet looking to get back to their roots, Absurdum Ad Nauseum will do the job nicely. ■■■■■■■■■■
