ANTETHIC
Mythographer HOLY ROAR
Esoteric, electronic bliss via the home of all things heavy
For Holy Roar, the UK’S home of all things sludgy, extreme and crushing, to be releasing an album from a Russian instrumental electronic trio seems a little odd at first glance.
Mythographer is full of lush, dreamy, snythesised soundscapes that bear more in common with the electrojazz of Floating Points or even Vangelis than they do anything that could be broadly considered metal. Even fans of Perturbator or Carpenter Brut might want to approach with caution, as this is a far more subtle and esoteric experience. But, for those with the patience, this is actually a brilliantly beguiling record, with songs like To Move A Mountain full of drama and quiet menace. A welcome diversion for our world. ■■■■■■■■■■
