KEVERRA
Keverra SEEING RED
Goatsnake and -(16)- members unleash a no-frills debut
This may be Keverra’s debut album, but with their rhythm section housing Goatsnake bassist Scott Renner and -(16)- drummer Mateo Pinkerton, there’s no doubting their sludgy credentials. With their big, gritty riffs, harsh burnt-out vocals and punky energy, Keverra are closer in spirit to the latter outfit, although their sound is even more stripped back than either of those bands. Aside from the numerous atmospheric interludes amidst the churning, amp-blowing din, this is no-frills sludge metal, with tracks like
Bathsheba and the sickeningly propulsive
Object To Be Destroyed
offering up screeching feedback and irresistibly filthy grooves, while Tioga
injects some sinister melody and lurking Today Is The Day-esque paranoia.
