How have you been spending your time in ‘Corona-world’? Arya Goggin (drums): “I try to keep to a routine. Keeping it as much like tour as possible, but instead of a TM giving me a day sheet, I’ve been relying on my wife! Call Of Duty, cooking, TV, music, virtual pub, exercise… It’s basically on tour, at home.”

Did Skindred have any specific plans that have been changed up because of COVID-19?

“Like every band we’ve had our touring calendar cancelled or postponed. Just before lockdown we were writing for a new album and it was going great. That was the main focus and then being out on tour from April through the summer, but we’ll continue to write and just be ready to rock when we can!”

How big a party will that November gig be if it can go ahead? “When shows start happening they will be the best shows that bands and audiences will have ever had. The energy will be electric. Every night that we can attend or play a show will be special, and we as a band won’t take it for granted.”

You recently unveiled a shirt to raise money for the NHS… “It was a simple gesture to support the hard-working people that keep this country alive. Our fans have shown us so much love and support over the years and many need our help now. We wanted to say thanks and let them know we love them.”

Do you think, despite all the crap, this has been a good period to see some of the good in people shine through?

“It really has. I’ve seen so many people stepping up and it’s been wonderful to watch and also be a part of it. The metal community are family. I’ve seen more and more bands, artists and fans doing things for charity and it all really counts.”

What kind of things do you think the music industry can learn from this situation?

“I’m loving that creativity is not stopping. Everyday there seems to be a new twist on how to get your music out there and heard. The interaction between bands and fans has been incredible. We’re all in it together and when life returns to normal we should remember who helped and who didn’t.”
