BLOODY HAMMERS
Songs Of Unspeakable Terror NAPALM
American gothic metallers change course for a grave affair
This North Carolina-based husband/wife duo have been gradually cultivating a deliciously dark goth-rock sound despite starting life as singer/bassist/songwriter Anders Manga’s doom project. On their latest full-length, Bloody Hammers take a twisted foray towards the grave, unearthing 11 tracks of retro horror-punk hedonism.
The stomping two-step of opener A Night To Dismember
is reminiscent of Misfits at their most melodic whilst a macabre cocktail of riffs and spinetingling synths elsewhere sees Songs Of Unspeakable Terror cut a path between metallic terrors and electro-tinged soundscapes. Manga’s vocals are more upfront and charismatic on the likes of Not Of This Earth, as BH prove ‘accessible’ doesn’t need to be a dirty word. ■■■■■■■■■■
