PORTRAYAL OF GUILT
We Are Always Alone CLOSED CASKET ACTIVITIES
Blackened hardcore with the bleakest of outlooks
Incorporating the heady pulse of punk, the blackened edges of hardcore and late 90s screamo, these Texans have had an aura of negativity around them since their formation in 2017. Straight from the ferocious opening bars of The Second Coming,
their second full-length radiates an omnipresent, formidable anger. Portrayal Of Guilt’s bleak outlook is encapsulated in the misanthropic hues of the album; Matt King’s snarled vocals entwine the record in spite while the electronic overlays, courtesy of
Terror Cell Unit’s Mack Chami, add alien tones to It’s Already Over’s joyless ode to death and Garden Of Despair’s agonising noise. The closing title track shifts from doom to echoing post-rock to a thunderous explosion of pain, the culmination of an uncompromising demonstration of giving vent to one’s inner demons.
