AND ANOTHER THING...

-

■ While it may be surprising to hear that young people don’t wash pyjamas for a month (Metro, Mon), the biggest shock is that they wear them in the first place. I had long since shed them by my mid-twenties. No pyjamas – no washing!

■ Stott says ‘vegans don’t eat palm oil’ on the grounds that its manufacture destroys vital habitats (MetroTalk, Tue). Firstly, not all palm oil is grown in the rainforest and to boycott palm oil affects the livelihoods of farmers who do grow it sustainably. Secondly, what is this big obsession with shaming people who are doing a good thing for not being perfect? Just as having a meat-free Monday is better than having meat every day, being vegan and eating palm oil is clearly better than not being vegan at all. We need to stop striving for people to live perfect lives.

In response to Philosophy Student, who argues with a previous writer that, yes, the Bible does contain exhortations to violence (MetroTalk, Tue). Why is it that non-religious people feel they can tell religious people how they should practise/ interpret their religion? David, Bath

■ All you new voters and young people, please do vote tomorrow. Your votes made a big difference to the last general election result and can do so again in these European elections. Mark, Croydon
