Bad boys given a Brit of a warm-up
DISGRACED duo Steve Smith and David Warner are set to make their first appearance on UK soil since their suspensions for ball-tampering.
The batsmen are in Australia’s World Cup squad having served 12-month bans for their part in the plan to use sandpaper on the ball in a Test match with South Africa in 2018.
Their first appearance was due to be against hosts England on Saturday, but Australia have agreed to play an additional warm-up fixture versus West Indies in Southampton today.
The Windies requested the extra game to give players who had been playing in the IPL sufficient time to prepare.
Defending champions Australia start their World Cup campaign against Afghanistan on June 1, 24 hours after West Indies begin against Pakistan.
