HOW TO THROW A VIRTUAL BABY SHOWER
With pregnant women advised to be extra careful of Covid-19, Zoom is also proving a popular tool for baby showers. Instead of joining her friend Tracey for afternoon tea, Natalie Wright, 38, threw her a baby shower online.
‘We were able to get together people easily, even friends and relatives in New Zealand,’ she says. ‘We invented a quiz based on our old baby photos and the parents among the group shared funny experiences. It was better than I’d imagined it would be.’
Lauren Stevenson, co-founder of Aisle 8 Communications Consultancy, organised an online baby shower for colleague Jade D’Aubney on what would have been her last day ‘in’ the office.
‘We moved the party to Zoom, sending a hamper of gifts to Jade’s home with a box of pink cupcakes,’ says Lauren. ‘We also created the Jade D’Aubney quiz with a series of rounds all about her and at the end we raised a glass to toast Jade and her final weeks before the arrival of baby Sienna.’
