Reasons to be cheerful

■ We have been living through difficult times but I have two concerns about the future. Once lockdown is lifted, everyone will want to throw off the shackles of confinement and motorists will be tootling about everywhere as normal, with no regard for the environment. Then there is a baby boom looming and I have to ask would-be UK parents, before you bring a child into a world with Covid-19, global warming, austerity, overpopulation and life in a post-Brexit Britain, do you really feel that child will thank you for bringing them into this world? Yes, it was similar after the world wars, but none of the above was an issue then. I’m not being negative, just realistic.
