Miniskirts swing to No.1 in fashion’s greatest hits

THERE wasn’t much in it – but the miniskirt has been named the most iconic fashion statement.

It pipped the little black dress and hot pants to the top of a UK poll. Other oldies-but-goodies include denim jackets, platform shoes, flared trousers and leather bikers’ jackets.

Rounding up the top ten are 1980s-style shoulder pads, kneehigh boots and skinny jeans.

Two-fifths of people feel today’s fashion is mostly made up of old styles and trends that are making a comeback.

‘People are hanging on to items they perceive to be classics, while also investing in vintage finds,’ said Samsung, which is behind the poll of 2,000 people.
