CORONA KINDNESS

-

■ I have been self-isolating since the end of January with stage 4 lung, liver, pancreas and back cancer, and I would like to say thanks for the kindness shown to me by the family down the road, who have been coming every evening to take my dog out for a walk. They are Poppy, Jasper, Woody, Matt and Nicki. Many thanks indeed. What a great help to me and my pooch.

Martin Modlin, Beckenham

■ Thanks to the staff of South Ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. These hard-working ladies are not on the Covid-19 ward but I have been in for a week now with a hernia and they have been looking after me. It’s not an easy job being a nurse but they have treated me with dignity, respect and have always had a smile on their faces. Natural-born heroes, every one of them.

Gordon, Doncaster

■ Huge thanks to Justin, the pharmacy cyclist who delivers my medications weekly. Thank you so much to you and your colleagues. Thanks also to the furloughed quantity surveyor who delivered essential food in the first few weeks. You are heroes in these desperate times.

Carolyne, Brimsdown

■ A shout-out to Wendy, our house manager, who has gone the extra mile to keep us all safe, happy and healthy. We have letter-box bingo and Pete, her partner, sends us little quizzes to keep

our brains active. We are very grateful for all she and Pete have done for us during the Welsh lockdown, which has three weeks still to run. Thank you.

The Residents Of Rhos Manor, Conwy Borough

■ Many thanks to Age Connect and other charities who are arranging gifts for the vulnerable elderly to cheer them up. We really appreciate you during this lonely and difficult time.

Jean Burt, Barry

■ All at Great Tew School would love to thank Leona and Stephen WebsterEdge for all they do for our special little school. Even with three little ones at home, Leona is the linchpin who never stops in her efforts to unite us. She always puts her hand up for any job that needs doing and raises cash for the school non-stop, and the thank-you video she has just made for our teachers goes way above and beyond! Stephen also can’t do enough for his neighbours and our school community while also being a superhero, front-line key worker in the NHS! What a couple, three cheers!’

Vanessa Doyle and Richard Whittle

■ I would just like to thank my wonderful fiancée, Sharon McCarthy, who has looked after her elderly parents, her sisters and me during this difficult time while working full time as a first-responder carer through this entire crisis. She’s a hero.
