‘Creep’ texted me on trace number I gave to tour bus

- by JOEL TAYLOR

A TOUR bus worker sent ‘ creepy’ messages to a woman after using details from her coronavirus test and trace form.

The man texted Kat Kingsley, 25, telling her she had been ‘living in his head’ and admitting ‘knowing the risk involved in using data that’s not supposed to be for me’.

She said the incident has left her ‘weirded out’ and added that she will be ‘wary about giving my details again’.

Ms Kingsley took the Original Tour bus in Windsor on Thursday, giving her name and phone number to a staff member as part of the NHS Test and Trace system.

Three days later she received two messages from a man at the company saying he wanted to see her. Ms Kingsley, of Hayle, Cornwall, said she was ‘in shock’ when she received the texts.

‘I just sort of stared at the messages trying to figure it out,’ she said. ‘It seems like a small thing at first but when you look into it you realise it’s much bigger.’

She urged people to be cautious as she said the system was ‘not very safe’ and ‘needs re-evaluating’.

Original Tour said it has launched an investigation as it ‘ takes the matter extremely seriously’. The Department of Health and Social Care said: ‘The unauthorised use of customers’ information provided for contact tracing is unacceptable and every business must comply with data protection legislation.’

It comes after model Lucy Dixon, 32, shamed a bar worker who sent her texts in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, last week after getting her number from the test and trace app.
