I’m an ice girl, says Vardy as she vows to clear name
REBEKAH VARDY has vowed to clear her name in her ‘Wagatha Christie’ feud with Coleen Rooney.
The 37-year-old wife of Leicester City footballer Jamie has signed up to star on ITV reality show Dancing On Ice.
But she says her mind is still on the public furore that came after ex-England star Wayne’s wife publicly accused her of leaking stories to the media about her, which the mum-of-five has denied.
And now, Rebekah has insisted she is on a mission to make sure people understand she wasn’t to blame for the leaked stories.
She told Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain yesterday: ‘Look, we tried to sort things out amicably, it just didn’t work. I understand people think it’s ridiculous, but what was I meant to do? I need to clear my name. I will do whatever that takes. I hope it’s going to be resolved soon.’ Rebekah said she ended up in hospital three times due to stressrelated illnesses caused by online trolling. And, while she found the situation ‘really tough’, she said knows she is still fortunate.
She said: ‘To be fair Piers, in comparison to what some people have gone through with Covid and things like that, it’s incomparable.
‘I have been trolled before and I do get it all the time but it kind of escalated. I had people messaging me saying nasty stuff, one in particular, “You fat ugly rat. I genuinely hope you and your baby rot”. I think people just don’t realise how it affects you.’
Turning her attention to Dancing On Ice – where she joins Myleene Klass, Colin Jackson, Denise van Outen, Faye Brookes and Jason Donovan – she said: ‘I’m so ready for the sequins and full glam squad. After months of lockdown it’ll be nice to get the glam on.’
