Giggs denies claims he assaulted lover
FOOTBALLER Ryan Giggs has denied allegations that he assaulted his girlfriend Kate Greville.
The Wales manager and former Manchester United player was arrested following reports of a disturbance at his £1.7million home in Worsley, near Salford, on Sunday night.
A woman ‘sustained minor injuries but did not require treatment’, said a Greater Manchester Police spokesman.
‘A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and common assault,’ the force added.
Giggs was later released on police bail pending further inquiries, The Sun reported yesterday.
A statement on his behalf read: ‘Mr Giggs denies all allegations made against him. He is co-operating with police and will continue to assist them with their investigation.’
It later emerged Giggs and the Welsh FA had ‘mutually agreed’ he would not take charge of the national team for an upcoming friendly against the US, and Uefa Nations League fixtures with the Republic of Ireland and Finland.
The father-of-two has dated ‘on-off girlfriend’ Ms Greville, 6, since the break-up of his marriage in 2017. The pair met in 201 when she began handling public relations for Hotel Football, a venue at Old Trafford he co-owns with former United teammates Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Gary and Phil Neville.
Giggs agreed a £40million divorce with ex-wife Stacey four years later after he cheated on her with model and Big Brother star Imogen Thomas. He also had an eight-year relationship with his brother Rhodri’s partner, Natasha, throughout their marriage. During a glittering career Giggs won 1 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, four FA Cups and three League Cups with Manchester United. He was also capped 64 times by Wales and is co-owner of League Two side Salford City.
