Shot WWI nurse’s last letter left to cathedral
A NURSE’S last letter to her mother before her capture and execution during World War I has been gifted to the cathedral where her remains are buried. Edith Cavell’s letter on July 26, 1915 – which mentions her work in Germanoccupied Belgium – will go on display at Norwich Cathedral. She was shot on October 12 for helping 200 Allied prisoners escape to the Netherlands.
