Keep calm and hurricane on in flooded Florida

IT MAY look like a scene of serenity as a man paddles his young son along in the sunshine. But just a few hours earlier, Storm Eta smashed into southern Florida, swamping neighbourhoods like this one. Eta, which has killed dozens of people from Mexico to Panama, was a record-equalling 28th Atlantic storm. Yesterday, the US hurricane centre in Miami announced a 29th storm – named Theta – but said it posed no immediate threat to land.
