Jail for killer driver who screamed at dying OAP

A SPEEDING BMW driver who killed a 90-year-old man by ploughing into his car while running a red light has been jailed.

Russell Averis, 25, screamed at John Sassons Taylor and tried to blame him as he lay dying in his wrecked Peugeot 208.

Police said Averis ‘aggressively’ accelerated to 51mph as the lights changed, hitting Mr Taylor’s car in Solihull, West Midlands, on April 3 last year. Averis, of Solihull, was jailed for three years and four months at Birmingham crown court after he admitted causing death by dangerous driving.
