BRIAN FACER has been named as chief executive of British Cycling, replacing Julie Harrington who is leaving to join the British Horseracing Authority.
Facer, who rides at Daventry CC, will take up the role early in the new year. He has been chief executive of London Irish rugby union club since 2017 and was previously Northampton Saints’ commercial director.
ALEX DOWSETT will attempt to reclaim the UCI Hour Record in Manchester on December 12.
The British time-trial champion held the record for 36 days in 2015 before Sir Bradley Wiggins broke it.
Victor Campenaerts is the current record-holder, with 55.089 kilometres set in Mexico last year.
