Hamish hopes Scots can top off revival

-

FLANKER Hamish Watson sees no reason why Scotland cannot be contenders to win the inaugural Autumn Nations Cup.

Gregor Townsend’s side go into their tournament opener in Italy on Saturday on the back of four consecutive wins, including a first hat-trick of Six Nations triumphs for 24 years. Scotland then host France and Fiji with the group winners facing the top side in a group containing England, Ireland, Wales and Georgia for the new silverware.

On his country’s chances, 29-yearold Watson (pictured) said: ‘I think we can put ourselves in a very good position to top the group.’ Scotland completed their Six Nations campaign with their first win in Wales since 2002 and the Edinburgh flanker added: ‘In my time with Scotland we have always struggled away from home.

‘All it takes is one or two results like that to start believing you can go to these places and win regularly.’
