It’s been a rocky road, to put it lightly, but we’re still here

-

TV PRESENTERS Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid congratulated each other for surviving the early starts as they marked five years on Good Morning Britain.

Morgan, 55, joined Reid, 49, on the ITV show when he stepped into the shoes of Ben Shephard in 2015.

After Reid presented Morgan with a pair of puppets – an apparent nod to their wooden anniversary – Morgan said: ‘Who would have thought it? It’s been a rocky road, to put it lightly, but we’re still here.’ Reid said: ‘Congratulations. You’ve put up with a lot as well.’

Discussing early morning television, Morgan said: ‘It basically kills you. It destroys you, inch by inch.’ Reid, comparing images from now and five years ago, said: ‘There’s at least a stone of difference for both of us.’

Special guests included Judy Finnigan and Richard Madeley as well as Vinnie Jones, Gary Barlow and Trisha Goddard. And Lorraine Kelly tweeted her congratulations to Susanna for ‘not pressing the button on the ejector seat I secretly had fitted’.
