Lonely on this island
The Brits who cram Ryanair flights, enjoy Eurostar or driving across Europe to their favourite destinations are going to rue the day they voted Brexit.
After half a century of being ‘at home’, they will now become foreigners with all the inconvenience that brings.
Whatever the reasons for opting out, the loss of being part of the EU for the average British citizen will far outweigh the as yet unknown advantages, if there are any. With an African free trade zone created across much of the continent and China pushing through a major Asian free trade bloc encompassing 16 major eastern economies, the economic future for this small island off the west coast of Europe is bleak.
The US and EU already face decline in this new world order but Britain’s influence will evaporate.
