■ FORMER Renault-Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn, 66, was wrongly held in Japan over alleged financial misconduct, which he denies, and should be compensate­d for his arrest in 2018, says a panel of human rights experts with the UN.

■ THE co-founder of 2014’s viral ice bucket challenge – which raised more than £150million for research into motor neurone disease – has died, aged 37. Pat Quinn, of New York, had been diagnosed with the disease, known as ALS in the US, in 2013.

■ SNAPCHAT is taking on TikTok by rolling out a feature to highlight creative posts. The platform said Spotlight lets users share videos with a wider audience. Its most engaged-with Snaps can win a $1million prize each day until 2021.

■ RIVAL groups have begun a second round of talks on forming a transition­al government to lead Libya into elections in December 2021. The country is split between a UN-supported government in the capital, Tripoli, and factions based in the east.
