Concussion substitutes are high on the agenda
FOOTBALL lawmakers want to allow additional substitutes to replace players suspected of having suffered concussion.
The International Football Association Board said it backed the idea of trialling additional permanent substitutes for head injury victims ‘as soon as possible’.
It comes as the debate around whether there is a link between concussion management and an increased risk of dementia to those who play professional contact sports comes back into the spotlight again following the death of Nobby Stiles and diagnosis of Sir Bobby Charlton.
