■ Laura rightly complains about the boys and men who put their dirty shoes up on train seats (MetroTalk, Mon) but I’ve seen plenty of girls and women do just the same thing. These are also likely the same men and women who will leave their bag and/ or coat on the seat next to them and refuse to move them. Too many people have little to no care for the transport they use – as far as they’re concerned someone gets paid to clean the train up at the end of the day.

■ In Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal we all lost our right to live, work and study in the EU. Now actors and musicians are asking for a free ‘culture’ work permit so they can perform in Europe. I’m sure many other groups of workers would like a similar concession.

Freedom of movement should be restored for everyone, not just for one ‘special’ class of people.

■ If chancellor Rishi Sunak wants a practical way to raise funds to cover

Covid (Metro, Mon), I have the perfect solution: introduce long-overdue cycle wardens to control and police cyclists. Most cyclists break the law with impunity but are rarely challenged or indeed fined.

Wardens would provide muchneeded employment and make the streets safer for pedestrians, while the many fines they’d collect would easily cover their wages and put a large amount of money back into the economy. He should consider e-scooter wardens too.
