Me writing in to say I was a little jealous of furloughed workers having paid time off sparked some response.

I did point out that I had sympathy for those facing redundancy and was grateful for having a job – that my jealousy was at those enjoying a break with none of those worries.

However, thank you to Richard (MetroTalk, Thu) for pointing out that people didn’t ask to be furloughed and that some, like him, had used the time well and volunteered.

It is a less desirable trait to feel our situation is worse than others. I am enlightened by the views of others.

We should all be grateful, no matter our situations, that we still have breath in our lungs to give our views – unlike the many whose lives have been taken by this virus. I stand better informed and am grateful.
