Trains with cracks back on the tracks after checks
TRAINS taken off the rails after cracks were found under some carriages will re-enter service after ‘rigorous tests’.
The faults, found on maintenance lifting plates of Hitachi 800 units, pose no safety risk to passengers, engineers and independent experts have concluded.
But the Rail Delivery Group vowed trains will only return to action after undergoing ‘thorough inspections by specialist teams’.
The cracks, which were discovered last weekend, led to the cancellation of some London North Eastern Railway and Great Western Railway services over the following days.
