Baby daughter lying next to murdered Brit mum was found trying to revive her
THE baby daughter of a British woman murdered by burglars in Greece was trying desperately to rouse her mum when cops arrived.
Officers said 11-month-old Lydia was hitting Caroline Crouch, 20, ‘with her hands and trying to wake her up’ at the family home in Athens on Tuesday. Ms Crouch’s husband Charalambos Anagnostopoulos, known as Babis, was found tied up, gagged and blindfolded on the floor.
The 33-year-old dad, a helicopter pilot, said he only discovered his wife was dead when police took off the tape over his eyes. A neighbour said Babis raised the alarm by using his nose to dial her number.
The three intruders suffocated Ms Crouch after torturing her and pointing a gun at Lydia’s head. Police are carrying out DNA tests on the family’s clothes and tracing 300 known burglars.
The gang escaped with jewellery and £10,000 in cash that the family had ready in the house to pay builders.
