Trolls take their toll on coach Chester

WAKEFIELD coach Chris Chester has dropped a big hint his five-year tenure at Belle Vue could be ending.

The 42-year-old former Wigan, Hull and Halifax forward says personal attacks on social media have forced him to consider his future and revealed he and 13 players are out of contract at the end of the season.

‘It’s a fantastic opportunity to rebuild the club, said Chester ahead of today’s Super League game with Leeds. ‘Whether that involves me, I’m not too sure.

‘I’m out of contract but I’d love to stay, I’m Wakefield born and bred. The personal attacks make you think whether being a head coach is worth it but I can’t speak highly enough of the people working here and the support I’ve had at board level and from the staff.’

ROBERT MAcINTYRE justified his position as the pre-tournament favourite by claiming a share of the halfway lead in the British Masters at the Belfry.

MacIntyre birdied the first five holes of his second round on his way to a 66. He is alongside Calum Hill and Richard Bland on seven under. Eddie Pepperell, Julien Guerrier and Justin Harding are on six under. ‘The putter was working, it felt beautiful,’ MacIntyre said.
