It’s a set-up, says Tory donor ‘behind £107m con’

A TORY party donor battling extradition to Germany over a £107million VAT scam has claimed he is the victim of a plot involving a ‘kingpin’ in Dubai. London-based property tycoon Peter Singh Virdee, 48 – said to have given the party £98,000 since 2011 – denies being a major player known as Batman in a so-called carousel con involving the trading of carbon credits. The hearing continues at Westminster magistrates’ court.
