Johnson urged to say sorry for the lives lost

-

A CONSERVATIVE MP has called for Boris Johnson to apologise to the families of people who died in Afghanistan.

John Baron said the mission to expel al-Qaeda had morphed into the ‘much wider mission of nation building... which meant we had to take on the Taliban’.

A spokesman for the PM said the UK ‘can be proud of what has been done in Afghanistan over the past 20 years’.

Foreign secretary Dominic Raab was criticised for staying on holiday, only returning to London on Sunday. Mr Johnson was also on holiday in the UK on Saturday but has now returned to Downing Street.
