Alarm bells! Phones ‘can affect pacemakers’

SMARTPHONE­S and watches can interfere with pacemakers and defibrilla­tors, US scientists warn. Study author Seth Seidman, of the Food and Drug Administra­tion, said magnets in their electronic­s could block medical devices unless 6in away but added ‘the risk to patients is low’.
