Woman glassed pub dancer in eye over ‘sexual’ moves
A BEAUTY therapist smashed a glass into the eye of another woman on a pub dance floor, claiming she was moving in an ‘overly sexual way’, a court heard.
Jennifer Hawkins, 35, was caught on CCTV thrusting her glass at graduate Faye Evans, whose sight has been permanently damaged.
She has admitted wounding the 30-year-old but denies inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and has now gone on trial.
Ms Evans, who denied there was anything sexual about her moves, said her pupil was scarred and she needed surgery to remove glass from her cornea after the incident in January 2019 at The Bedford in Balham, south-east London. ‘Blood
was streaming down my face and going into my mouth and I had to spit it out,’ she added. ‘It felt like my face had been ripped apart.’
Hawkins told Kingston-uponThames crown court she was simply trying to push Ms Evans away and forgot she was holding a glass. The trial continues.
